Pumuky
At the end of 2002 Jair Ramirez became known as Pumuky, leaving behind his former “Alex Kid en el país de las tormentas” moniker. Although often accompanied by friends, Pumuky is basically Jair’s solo effort –an outstanding combination of breathtaking folk with pop sensibility that Spain had never known before.
His first demos attracted media interest from the very beginning. “Pumuky” was awarded Demo of the Year 2003 in one of the most influential programs within the Spanish independent music scene: “Disco Grande”, broadcast by the Spanish public radio.
The success of his EPs encouraged him to start the home recording of his first full lenght, “De viaje al País de las Tormentas” (FUP Records, 2006). His debut awarded him with rave reviews in the Spanish media and was followed by acclaimed live shows throughout the whole of Spain.
Pumuky has recently being signed to Lejos Discos, a Spanish independent label that has proudly released the work many international artists and which boasts of having some of the most interesting Spanish bands, such as like Ursula or Arbol (ex-Piano Magic).
Pumuky's new album "Los exploradores perdidos", which has been released this fall, is the first he has recorded in a professional studio, with the collaboration of some of the best musicians of the Spanish music scene.
